We recently helped plan a bridal shower for one of our best friends, Emily. If you know anything about Emily it’s that she LIVES for a monogram. Really though, who wants to wear a plain robe if you can have your initials embroidered on it instead?
When it came time to plan Emily’s shower, the monogram idea was a no-brainer. First step: find the perfect invitation to set the theme. To tell you the truth, we thought the monogram theme was really original. Little did we know that there were actual invites out there! We ultimately picked this one from Polka Dot Design.
We loved the shape of this invitation, the sample wording (Let's Shower Emily with love and wishes because soon she'll be Preston's Mrs), and the amount of space we had to include all the details about our theme. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to be available online anymore! Glad we got it while we could.
After the invitations, it was time to settle on food and décor. Since this was an out-of-town shower for us, we kept things relatively simple, but girly and colorful at the same time.
Our other co-host created the flower arrangements on the tables. You simply can’t go wrong with fresh flowers at any party, no matter the theme. These hydrangeas are very bridal and could not be more beautiful.
Since Emily’s future married name starts with M, we set out M&Ms on the table. This was perfect for both snacking and décor and added some more color to the space.
As luck would have it, Mrs. McGarry had a few “M” things lying around, so these were sprinkled around the tables as well.
The best part of the shower was the gifts. Since Emily had already had a couple of other showers hosted by family friends where she received many gifts off her registries, we encouraged guests to bring monogrammed gifts. (We included her registry on the invitations for anyone who didn’t have the time to get creative, but of course we judged them for this later!) Anyone who has been to a shower knows that the gift-opening portion is a necessary evil, and it’s hard to feign enthusiasm for a pair of oven mitts. A monogrammed apron, on the other hand, will send a group of women into a round of applause. Check out some of the unique gifts below:

A framed bible verse beginning with the letter M - so clever!
Monogrammed floppy beach hat perfect for the honeymoon
Monogrammed Kitchen Chalkboard
Emily also got creative with her hostess gifts. She bought us these adorable return address stamps with our very own monograms. Note to all brides out there: these make perfect bridesmaid gifts, too!
And there you have it - a unique and very personalized themed shower with the added bonus of actually having FUN watching the bride open gifts.
What are some of your favorite monogrammed gifts?
