Hawaiian Shower

Happy New Year everyone!  Hope everyone is having a good start to the first week of the year.

We realize it's only January 3 and most of us don't have a beach vacation in the foreseeable future.  However, we wanted to add some sunshine to your Tuesday by sharing this Hawaiian-themed shower.

We love a honeymoon-themed shower because it is so personal for the bride and groom.  Since Hawaii is such a popular honeymoon spot, we wanted to be sure to share this one that was held for our friend Larissa and her now-hubby Chris.  Even if your bride isn't headed to off the islands, a luau is never a let-down when it comes to party themes.

Larissa's hostesses did a great job of incorporating tropical items into all the food served at the party.  Dishes included chicken and pineapple kebabs, Hawaiian chicken salad, fruit pizza, mango salsa, and even pina colada cake balls!  Plus, the food was all made festive with mini drink umbrellas.

We couldn't resist the chance to contribute some tropical goodies for the festivities, too:

Drinks are also a no-brainer for a Hawaiian-themed party.  From pina coladas to mai tais, you simply can't go wrong with a sweet and fruity beverage.

Luaus are also tons of fun when it comes to decor.  Most of the items below can be found at a local party supply store, and all the colorful food and drinks make for great decor, too.  Our favorite is how the girls used a blow up palm tree to store the brewskies!

And don't just stop with your tabletop.  Make sure all your guests dress in their best Hawaiian shirts and have plenty of leis and flowers at the ready.  And a coconut bra for good measure.

Thanks ladies for sharing your pics - you guys did a great job!   And with wedding season around the corner, we know many of you are probably in the thick of planning upcoming showers. Be sure to contact us if you'd like your event featured on SASS!

In the meantime, we'd love to hear from you in our comments below!  Have you ever thrown a Hawaiian luau?  What do you think of a honeymoon-themed shower?
