Today we’re bringing you an oldie but a goodie – the Mexican fiesta baby shower for Leah’s friends Mary and Ross. This baby shower came not only with margaritas, but also with men! Despite the fact that their baby is now 1 year old, we want to feature some of the cute details we incorporated into the theme.
Décor for a Mexican fiesta is relatively simple. Most of the items we used can be found at your local party supply store. Believe us, a few piñatas, sombreros and hanging pictures can go a long way.
We also used the advice from our money-saving post and printed out simple fiesta-themed clip art pictures from the internet. We hung these on just about every surface that tape would allow.
Someone also contributed this adorable diaper cake, which always makes for a great baby shower centerpiece.
With a theme like Mexican fiesta, food was a no-brainer. We had taquitos, chips and queso, tortilla roll-ups and even some Mexican desserts. Ruthie, one of the hostesses, made these colorful cupcakes with flags using clip art of baby items and corresponding Spanish words.
We don’t believe that games are a must for every shower, but for this couple it was a given.
Since Mary and Ross didn’t know the sex of their baby, we had everyone create either pink or blue nametags to show off their guess.
Then, we created a diaper station where the guests could write messages on newborn diapers. This is a great way to make the couple laugh when they’re changing diapers in the middle of the night.
We also had the guests submit suggestions for names, which ranged from cute and traditional to totally outrageous.
We also played the ever popular “chug beer from a baby bottle” and “guess the disgusting baby food flavors.”
A great time was had by all, and believe it or not, this baby shower lasted into the wee hours of the morning. Before we close out the post, just had to share one adorable picture of the now one-year-old baby Logan.
What we love about the Mexican fiesta theme is that is works for so many different occasions. Have you ever thrown a Mexican fiesta? What about a couples baby shower?
