Beer and BBQ Birthday Party

Our friend Lindsay recently threw a big party for her boyfriend's birthday at the Salt Lick.  For Austinites, this needs no explanation.  For out-of-towners, the Salt Lick is a famous bbq restaurant just outside of Austin that specializes in family style ribs, brisket and sausage.  And did we mention it's also BYOB?  It's pretty much the perfect spot for a guy's birthday.

It also gave us the perfect excuse to make these beer mug cookies that we've been dying to try.

It turns out that the beer mug cookie cutter is pretty difficult to find!  We ended up using a baseball mitt and bending it to make the shape we needed. Having to adapt a cookie cutter almost makes us like them even more.

Since there is always room for dessert, Lindsay wanted to make sure she had a good variety of treats for her guests after a big meal.  We made these chocolate-chocolate cake pops with pecans, and added a custom label to tie in the beer and barbecue theme.

We also made some maple bacon cupcakes (just in case the guys hadn't had enough meat).  Sadly, the cupcakes met their untimely death on the way to the Salt Lick.  But good thing Lindsay had so many other treats on hand!

This party just goes to show that special treats are not just for bridal showers and kids' birthday parties.  Everyone loves sweets (we don't care what you say), and custom cookies and cake balls are the perfect way to make someone feel really special.  Be sure to contact us for your next party - we are always looking for reasons to try something new and can work with almost any budget.
